The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, or CPRs, came into force on 26 May 2008, transposing the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive into UK law. They introduce a general duty not to trade unfairly and ban certain, specified practices. The OFT and the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform have jointly issued guidance on the CPRs.22
